Varia Mobile is a Seattle-based business-to-business software development company specializing in creating Linux-based mobile solutions. In September of 2007, Varia Mobile was divested from Tegic Communications (an AOL property) to form a new privately-funded entity.

The majority of our staff has worked together for more than seven years. Over this time we have built a rich suite of software applications, while the company has accumulated a significant patent portfolio. Additionally, our software has been productized several times throughout our history.
Currently, Varia Mobile is engaged with developing solutions that help to bring content providers, mobile operators and hardware manufacturers together to build innovative content rich applications for this ecosystem.
Varia Mobile's mission is to make personal mobile devices easy to use, and content and services discoverable and uncomplicated.
John McQueen: President
Mr. McQueen has been a Sales and Marketing Executive and General Manager for professional services and technology companies for over 20 years. He has gained significant global experience having managed multiple international subsidiaries and distribution businesses around the world. Mr. McQueen was on the executive management team through four major corporate mergers and acquisitions, and is currently the President of Varia Mobile, based in Seattle, WA.
Mr. McQueen was one of the founding employees at Wildseed and as an executive staff member, was closely involved in the strategy and business execution of the company globally. After the acquisition of Wildseed Ltd. by AOL LLC in August 2005, Mr. McQueen was appointed Worldwide Vice President of Sales, Marketing, Deployment and Support for AOL Mobile.
Prior to Wildseed, Mr. McQueen was a General Manager and later a Worldwide Vice President of Softimage, a division of the Microsoft Corporation. Softimage is a cutting-edge media and 3D animation software company best know for being the enabling animation technology behind Jurassic Park and other cutting-edge games titles.
After six years at Microsoft, Avid Technology acquired Softimage. While at Avid, Mr. McQueen assumed the role of Worldwide Vice President of Marketing.
Peter Zatloukal: CTO
Mr. Zatloukal is a veteran product development executive responsible for multiple successful launches of cellular handsets, platform technologies and popular online services. Mr. Zatloukal holds a degree in Business Administration and Information Systems from the University of Washington, and has over 25 domestic and international patents filed in wireless and cellular communications, systems scalability, and software technology.
Mr. Zatloukal was one of the founders of Wildseed, and was responsible for the creation and deployment of the company's technology and product development. After AOL acquired Wildseed, Mr. Zatloukal became Vice President of Wireless Platforms, leading both AIM Mobile Instant Messaging, while heading the continuation of Wildseed's technology platform.
Prior to Wildseed, Mr. Zatloukal shipped products at Microsoft in the DirectX and Internet Explorer divisions, and managed the technical turnaround of MSN's Internet Access service, integrated in Windows 98 as MSN 5.0. Additionally, Mr. Zatloukal worked at I.B.M., where he designed and developed scalable multi-platform distributed client/server systems. Prior to that, he worked for Design Intelligence, Seattle-based software startup, where he led a small handpicked development team in the creation of an innovative desktop publishing technology, which applied artificial intelligence techniques to implement automatic design and publishing of print and web content.
Joe DeAngelis: Director of Business Development
Joe DeAngelis is a senior hands-on leader with strong international wireless experience growing large and small companies through business development, product marketing and sales expertise, combined with significant executive carrier and OEM relationships.
Joe's trademark is developing winning partnerships involving product marketing, manufacturing, branding, and distribution for new global products launches. As Varia's Business Development Director, and prior as Market Development Director for AOL's wireless division acquired from Wildseed, Ltd., Joe is a driving force behind numerous value-added wireless multimedia products and carrier services significantly contributing to the bottom line. As VP of Market Development on Wildseed's senior team, he directed global business development and marketing operations.
Joe served as Technology Marketing Director with Activate.net, a broadband media startup with direct responsibility for scaling its marketing, operations and revenue. Under his direction, Activate expanded its exposure and adoption of desktop web content services by its enterprise and consumer audiences.
During 20 years at AT&T, Bell Labs, McCaw Cellular and AT&T Wireless, Joe developed new wireless products and created "go to market" strategies involving sales, marketing and launch. This included marketing new consumer and enterprise solutions responsible for a 5-fold revenue increase to $300M over 5 years at McCaw/ AT&T Wireless.
Joe led the consumer markets strategy for "Project Kitty Hawk", a landmark corporate strategy project approved by AT&T's Chairman for AT&T's re-entry into the wireless services industry. Joe was selected to the hand-picked team that planned, negotiated, and closed the landmark $11.5 billion McCaw Cellular acquisition. He managed significant programs involving business planning, sales programs, product marketing and partner negotiations. He also directly managed Bell Labs' breakthrough 6 GHz handset and network trial and developed product and marketing strategies for this new PCS service.
Evan Feldman: Director of Product Planning & Product Marketing
Evan brings significant experience in defining and creating device platforms capable of delivering superior multimedia experiences to online wireless users.
For the last 19 years, Evan has been engaged in the development of cutting edge technology at NASA/Lockheed, Compaq and Microsoft. During this tenure at Microsoft he was one of the principle inventors of the TabletPC, helped to define the MID computing revolution, and designed new technologies for managing and monitoring servers.
